BEVERLY CARRICK

As a child, Beverly wanted to be a ballerina more than anything. But life threw her a challenge when she lost her leg because of bone cancer. Turning to art as therapy, she discovered the creative joy of oil painting. "This made me an artist" she says. Painting came into me life as a second choice, but it has turned out to the most satisfying."

In 1963 she began painting professionally as a seascape artist in the Laguna Beach and Los Angeles areas, studying with major southland artist. Beverly's own seascapes have been praised for their overall peaceful yet dramatic impact. She captures the graceful movement in the rolling waves, the sound of the surf lapping the shore, that fleeting colorful moment when you wish you had a camera.

Breathtaking portrayals of landscapes-vast deserts, majestic mountains, quiet streams-continue to be popular. "The thing I most try to express in my desert painting" Beverly explains, "is the way the light plays upon the land. Lighting, to me, is the magic that makes a harsh landscape beautiful. It can turn a stony, barren mountain into a thing of beauty." Details fall into place and emerge with remarkable precision in her consistently brilliant desert palette.

Beverly's followers praise the beauty of her artistic expression, her intent on accurately rendering the effects of light and shade, the blend of subtle and vibrant colors. She elicits an emotional response in many viewers. "You feel either like you've been there before or like you're seeing a place you'd love to visit soon. She reveals the delicate moods of landscapes, preserves nature in her artful strokes, captures a sense of adventure. You can actually feel the cool water sparkling in the sunlight", express an admirer of her work.

Today, oil paintings by this favorite artist appear in fine collections throughout the United States and Canada. Leanin' Tree Greeting Card Company publishes her work, and limited editions are also available. Their appeal lies in a unique style, an ageless quality. These realistic depiction's are a tribute to nature, their hues speaking to viewers from the artist's special vantage point.
