JANICE CUA
Janice Cua's artistic talent was recognized in
early childhood by family, teachers and friends. Cua began her formal
training at the age of eight, spending much of her time studying under
esteemed private art instructors. Tutelage of the internationally acclaimed
artist, Phylis Markawith, influenced Cua's work throughout her youth.
Her first commissioned art was at age ten. She continued to sell her art and
display in shows throughout Los Angeles in her early years. At sixteen, Cua
was presented with the first place award to the "Hallmark Art Contest" in
representation of the State of California. Newspaper articles followed her
work. She was sought out by and art firm in Los Angeles and hired as a
commercial artist at age seventeen. Enjoying herself, yet wanting more
challenge, Cua began painting murals for Catholic Churches and custom homes.
Some of the murals exceed 30 feet in height.
Her career went on hold as she married and soon had three children. Cua took
the time to enjoy family life yet still made time to study and create, often
using her children as models.
Once again Janice Cua entered the art market with an extravagant and
charming style. Masters art recreated larger than life with a new accent on
warmth and romance. Original portraits in Timeless settings became Cua's
passion. Capturing a likeness, personality, as well as an inner quality
comes naturally for her. Her new style of art has attracted and sold to
prominent designers, galleries and private art collectors internationally.
