JENNA GARCIA
Jenna is proud to be
represented at richard danskin Galleries where she is releasing her
cityscape paintings for the first time.
Her
style is perceptionism. Studying impressionism inspired her to start
painting and over 20 years later she continues to use the techniques of the
impressionists to describe reality in a state of constant motion changing
every second with the passing of light and shadows. The objective is to
capture candid moments that often pass too quickly. Freeze the glimpses,
then hang it on the wall, observe it in detail and relax in the beauty of
the moment. Her favorite artists are Van Gogh, Cezanne, Monet, and Wysoki,
and include Robin Anderson, Dennis Porter and Michael Flohr.
In
1999 she graduated from San Diego State University with her Bachelor's
Degree in Art. She began studying oil painting with Robin Anderson at age 17
during her artist apprenticeship from 1985 until 1991 for Margo Mandette, at
their studios and gallery in Jerome, Arizona. She has been oil painting ever
since.
California .Perceptionism
Perceptionism is the way an individual sees and perceives the world. It is
influenced by everything experienced and learned. Moving to the Verde Valley
at age 13 and growing up as an only child in this part of the world, had a
lasting effect on her. Living in Jerome, a small ghost town, with Sedona at
the opposite end of the amazing Verde River and Oak Creek Canyon, she was
surrounded by dramatic landscapes. She became fascinated with the forests,
mountains, rivers and vast expansive skies. When she started oil painting
it gave her tools to explore the science of a landscape using color theory,
depth perspective and fractal geometry. |
