RAMON PARMENTER

Art critic Eugene Messer states, “Ramon Parmenter shows a classic genius for drawing and sculpting the living form. To works possessing the muscular sensuousness of a Michelangelo combined with the elegant, flowing forms of Cellini and touched by the classic grace of Canova this young artist has added his own fearless obsession for risk-taking by showing his figures, not only standing on terra firma, but caught in the act of movement, suspended in dramatic special conflict.”

Born in 1954, Ramon’s artistic development was greatly influenced by this small city’s passion for the athletic and performing arts. He received his formal training at both Walla Walla College and the Southern Oregon College of Art.

Ramon believes that God has entrusted him with a talent that he must exercise in order to fulfill his purpose in life...

“From the time I was old enough to put pencil to paper, the beauty of the living form, which God has made, has fascinated me. How familiar it is, how common; yet in the interplay of muscle, limbs and torso I find endless drama. The essence of my role as an artist is to capture that drama at its most poignant moment.”
