JACK STORMS
Jack Storms, optic crystal sculptor, was
introduced to this unique sculpting process after graduating with a BA in
Art from Plymouth State College. In 2002, Jack opened Storm Works Studio,
and introduced his own unique, fresh designs into the world of cold worked
glass. "Many people see cold worked glass as being very technical and
distant from the human experience. I try to overcome that and seek to make a
bridge from myself to the work. There is a sense of organic nature to all of
my pieces."
Jack has continued to reach new audiences
through galleries and selected shows in the US and Canada. The Carmel Valley
Rotary Club presented Storms' work as an emissarial gift to the President of
Nigeria to mark the occasion of the first blood bank on the continent of
Africa. A commission to produce the LA Music Awards has led to inclusion in
the collections of a growing list of celebrities including Hugh Hefner.
Juried into both the BAGI (Bay Area Glass
Institute) and Pilchuck Auctions for 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008, Storms has
garnered respect in the glass community. His work "Bella Vino" won the
coveted People's Choice Award at the 2007 BAGI Awards. Jack's newest
sculpture "Mobius Strip" was the 2008 BAGI Golden Raffle item raising once
again the most money for the BAGI fund raiser.
Jack Storms sculptures are available through a
select group of galleries.
